Women’s Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Coast Guard, Sweeps Nichols Saturday

BOSTON, Mass.- The Emerson College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Coast Guard before breezing by Nichols Saturday afternoon at the Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gym.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emerson cruised to a 25-6 win in the opening set to jump ahead 1-0.
  • Coast Guard bounced back to capture the second frame 25-15
  • The Bears rolled to a 25-14 victory in the third to grab a 2-1 advantage.
  • The Lions prevailed 25-23 in the fourth to even the contest at 2-2.
  • In the winner-take-all fifth set, Coast Guard edged Emerson 15-10.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Parker Cummings (Rochester, N.Y.) paced the squad with a match-best 19 kills.
  • Amelia Combs (Eugene, Ore.) notched 17 digs, 10 kills, and five service aces.
  • Chloe Hokenson (McLean, Va.) finished with 34 assists, eight digs, and five kills.
  • Brooke Maynez (Las Cruces, N.M.) added six kills while Sophia Schiappa (Burr Ridge, Ill.) chipped in with five aces.
  • Caroline Davis (Orlando, Fla.) collected 13 digs and dealt two service aces.

  • Emerson coasted to a 25-11 win in the opening set to establish a 1-0 lead.
  • The Lions doubled their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-7 victory in the second frame.
  • The home team rolled to a 25-12 decision in the third to wrap up the straight-set sweep.
