HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first conference clash between the Emerson Lions and NEWMAC newcomer Salve Regina, the game went down to the wire. The Lions had four players score in double figures as Brendan McNamara led the charge with 12 points and Trevor Arico, Lucas Brenner, and Jacob Armant all scored 11 points. Asher Gardiner controlled the board for the Lions as he pulled down 10 rebounds.
- The game saw a total of 14 lead changes as the teams were evenly matched. Emerson was able to convert on 11 of their 35 three-point attempts (31%) compared to Salve Regina only being able to convert 3 of 19 (16%)
- The Lions held a slim 1-point lead heading into half and was able to extend that to as big as 5 points early in the second half but a Salve Regina run saw them re-take the lad shortly after before Emerson again took the lead with 12 minutes remaining, this time for the last time.
- Emerson held strong the remainder of the game, building an 8-point lead with just over 8 minutes remaining in regulation. The Lions were able to hold off Salve Regina for the remainder of the game and secure the victory.
