Women's Soccer Opens NEWMAC Play with 0-0 Draw Against Smith

The Lead: The Emerson Women's Soccer team battled to a tie in their NEWMAC opener as Amara Schaub and the Lions defense kept Smith off the board. Despite having opportunities, the Lions were also unable to find the back of the net.

First Half:
The early minutes of the game saw the Emerson offense push into Smiths side of the field, earning a corner kick just over a minute into the game. Smith defense was able to clear the attempt and keep the game scoreless.
Emerson continued to dominate possession and had several scoring opportunities, with shots from Kaylin O'Meara and Gina Lukoskie. Skylar Smith, the goalkeeper for Smith, was able to deny all shots on goal by the Lions.
As the first half progressed, Smith managed to create one scoring opportunity with a shot from Seychelle Brainard, but Amara Schaub quickly turned the shot away, keeping the game at a 0-0 tie headed into halftime.

Second Half:
The second half saw Emerson maintain their offensive pressure, earning multiple corner kicks and getting shots on goal. However, Smith's defense and goalkeeper Skylar Smith remained strong, denying Emerson's attempts.
Smith struggled to generate offensive opportunities in the second half, with Emerson's defense effectively containing their attacks. In the closing minutes of the game, both teams committed fouls as they fought for control of the midfield and neither team was able to generate any scoring chances. The game ultimately ended in a 0-0 tie.
