The Lead: The Emerson Men's Volleyball team hosted their final tri-match of the 2023 season on Saturday afternoon. The Lions held host to Emmanuel (Mass) and Rivier where they went on to fall to both teams to finish the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set one was a back-and-forth battle between Emerson and Emmanuel. Neither side was able to create a substantial lead throughout the set.
- The Lions only committed four errors in the set with 12 kills on 33 attempts. Emmanuel committed 6 errors and had 9 kills on 28 attempts.
- With the socre 18-17 in favor of Emmanuel, The Lions strung together a scoring run to close out the set. Luke Roehm, Ramsis De Los Santos and Jack Miessner anchored the Lions rally as they secured a 25-18 set victory.
- The second set saw the Lions in a 13-6 hole halfway through set number two. The Lions were able to battle back and score 9 of the next 10 points to take a 15-14 lead. The two sides began trading points before Emmanuel was able to close out the set by a score pf 25-20
- The Emmanuel attack was too much for Emerson in the third set as the ions could not gain any substantial momentum and dropped set number three by a score of 25-16
- Set number four was similar to the first two sets. Both teams traded points throughout the set, with neither side able to pull away from the other.
- The Lions looed to extend the match as Emmanuel looked to close out Emerson in four sets. With the score tied at 25-25, Roehm put the Lions ahead with a kill. Unfortunately for the Lions, Emmanuel was able to score three consecutive points to secure the win and a match victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Heading into their seconds matche of the game for both teams, the Rivier Raiders attack proved to be too much for the Emerson Lions to handle. The Raiders tallied 45 total kills on 76 attempts while only committing 8 erros.
- The Lions committed 16 errors on 72 attempts while tallying 16 kills.
- The Lions were paced by Neiko Pittman's 11 kills while teammate Luke Roehm was not far behind with 10 kills. Bryson Beck assisted on 24 kills throughout the match.
- Rivier ultimately won in straight sets by a score of 25-20, 25-13, and 25-19.
