HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson pushed across three runs to begin the first inning to snag the 3-0 lead over Wellesley.
- Zannotti plated the game's first run on a wild pitch and was followed by Zenga being driven in by Killough after she drove an RBI single into left center.
- The Lions final run of the inning came in after Beaulieu's sacrifice fly into center brought in Killough.
- Delgado reached on a fielder's choice and stole second before Lundin singled her in to cut Emerson's lead down to 3-1 in the bottom of the first.
- Wellesley tacked on one more run behind Gaunce's RBI single as the scored sat at 3-2 with three innings in the books.
- After Overton's second double of the day landed in left center, Zenga crossed an insurance run home on a throwing mishap by the Blue with Emerson now up 4-2 in the fifth.
- Wellesley threatened in the same inning with the bases filled and two outs, but Zenga escaped the inning unscathed when she got Chung to line out to left.
- It was in the top of the seventh when Emerson put the game away and used Killough's bases-clearing triple that she laced down the right field line to extend their advantage to 7-2.
- A double by Lauren Young to begin Wellesley's half of the seventh proved not costly as Gomez retired the final three Blue batters in order on a grounder, strikeout and pop up to preserve the 7-2 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a pitcher's duel through the first four innings with Young and Gomez giving up a combined five hits.

- Wellesley threatened in the bottom of the fifth with a runner on third with two outs after Chung's single advanced Phillips. Gomez preserved Emerson's tight 1-0 lead when she got Delgao to fly out to center to wrap the inning.
- In the sixth and seven frames for the Blue, the hosts put runners on third and threatened to take the lead. Gomez settled and locked down the Blue's bats, getting the final three outs on three consecutive grounders.
