HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bost sides struggled to gain much momentum in the first set, combining for a total of 9 attack errors. During the first set, Emerson tallied 11 kills on 27 attempts while committing only three errors. Emmanuel on the other hand committed 6 errors on 35 attempts and tallied 11 kills.
- The Lions held the Lead for most of the set, but Emmanuel stayed within striking distance. The Lions created their biggest lead late in the set, sparked by a Ben Dosey kill, that led the Lions to score 5 of the last 6 points scored and earn a 25-17 set victory.
- The second set ended up being a true swing set for this match and giving Emerson the momentum. After an early 6-2 Emerson lead, the Saints climbed back into the set with six of the next seven points.
- From that time, neither side would hold more than a two-point edge, all the way until the set-deciding points. Tied 25-25, an Emmanuel attack error, followed by a combo block for the Lions Neiko Pittman and Dorsey clinched the second set for Emerson, 27-25.
- In the third and final set, the Lions led wire-to-wire. The momentum the Lions had built throughout the previous two sets carried into the third set.
- The Saints closed the score to 15-14 mid-way through the set before The Lions closed out the set on a 10-4 run.
- Jack Miessner sealed the trip to the GNAC Semi-Finals for the Lions with a kill to secure the 25-18 victory in straight sets for Emerson.
