HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lions dominated set one, winning by a score of 25-12. Emersons attack tallied 9 kills on 22 attempts and only committed 2 errors. Dean's attack was only able to muster up 6 kills on 22 attempts, committing 7 errors.
  • The Lion separated themselves early, scoring 8 consecutive points with a mix of kills and errors on the side of Dean.
  • The Lions attack stayed consistent into the second set, but Dean played Emerson much closer. The Lions racked up 14 kills on 27 attempts and committed 4 error. While Dean tallied 8 kills on 25 attempts and committed 5 errors.
  • This set was more back-and-forth through the middle portion as Dean stayed within striking distance. Luke Roehm and Neiko Pittman anchored the Lions attack in the second set, helping push Emerson to a 25-19 victory and a 2-0 lead.
  • The third set was controlled by Dean early as they pulled out to an 11-8 lead, their largest lead of the game before a kill by Bayden Slavik and a block by Roehm shifted the momentum back in favor of Emerson. From being down three points to scoring the next 6 points, Emerson was now ahead by a score of 14-11 and they would not allow Dean to retake the lead.
  • Led by Slavik's game-high 27 assists and Pittman's game-high 11 kills, Emerson secured a 3-0 victory.
