HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ
- Lions came out strong to begin the 2023-24 campaign as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead, led by Bri Frongillo and Charlotte Levison, who both hit three-pointers to help Emerson create a comfortable lead early in the first quarter.
- The Lions offense slowed down after the first five minutes of action as Suffolk was able to climb back into the game. As the first 10 minutes came to a close, the Lions held a 12-8 lead.
- Led by Amanda DeAngelis, the Rams were able to come storming back in the second quarter as they outscored the Lions 22-16.
- The Rams hot 50% from the field, including going 1-2 from 3-point land while the Lions shot 38% and only converted 2 of their 9 3-point attempts.
- At the end of two quarters, the Lions found themselves in a 2-point deficit with a score of 30-28. The Lions were led by Frongillo's 11 points in the first half while Suffolk's DeAgelis racked up a first-half double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
- The Rams separated themselves in the third quarter as they built their lead to as large as 21 points. A Frongillo 3-pointer with 5 seconds remaining in the quarter cut the Rams lead to 18 with only 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
- With the lead they had built coming out of halftime, the Rams were able to keep the Lions at bay in the final 10 minutes and secure a 67-51 victory to open the 2023-24 campaign.
