HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ
- The Lions jumped out to an early first quarter lead against UMASS Dartmouth. Led by Bri Frongillo and Ella Bushee, Emerson led by as many as 9 points with 3:14 left in the first quarter.
- With the Lions ahead 19-10, UMD came storming back as they closed out the final three minutes of the first quarter on a 14-0 run to reclaim the lead. After one quarter if action, UMD led 24-19.
- UMD slowly pulled away in the second quarter as they built a 16-point lead with just over three minutes to play in the half. UMD got shots up in volume as they had 21 attempts from the field, converting on only 7 of them compared to the Lions 10 attempts where they converted four. The Lions found themselves in a 46-33 deficit heading into halftime.
- The third quarter was the difference maker in the game for UMD. They outscored the Lions by a score of 30-14 in the quarter as they went 10 of 17 from the field, including knocking down five three-pointers. After three quarters of play, the Lions trailed by 29 points.
- The lead UMD had built throughout the game was too much for the Lions to overcome as the fourth quarter came to a close with UMASS Dartmouth securing a 85-59 victory over the Lions.
