The Lead: The Emerson Women's Basketball team opened the Lafrance Hospitality Tournament on Saturday evening against UMASS Dartmouth. The Lions offense was led by Bri Frongillo and Olivia Deslauriers, but the Lions came up short on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• The Lions jumped out to an early first quarter lead against UMASS Dartmouth. Led by Bri Frongillo and Ella Bushee, Emerson led by as many as 9 points with 3:14 left in the first quarter.
• With the Lions ahead 19-10, UMD came storming back as they closed out the final three minutes of the first quarter on a 14-0 run to reclaim the lead. After one quarter if action, UMD led 24-19.
• UMD slowly pulled away in the second quarter as they built a 16-point lead with just over three minutes to play in the half. UMD got shots up in volume as they had 21 attempts from the field, converting on only 7 of them compared to the Lions 10 attempts where they converted four. The Lions found themselves in a 46-33 deficit heading into halftime.
• The third quarter was the difference maker in the game for UMD. They outscored the Lions by a score of 30-14 in the quarter as they went 10 of 17 from the field, including knocking down five three-pointers. After three quarters of play, the Lions trailed by 29 points.
• The lead UMD had built throughout the game was too much for the Lions to overcome as the fourth quarter came to a close with UMASS Dartmouth securing a 85-59 victory over the Lions.
