HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both offenses struggled to get going as Lions Freshman Jessica Gomez and Springfield's Gillian Kane were able to keep their opposing bats at bay.
- The Lions were able to strike first when Senior Calli Pratt drove a sacrifice fly to right field; plating fellow Senior Lexi Semanchik and giving the Lions a 1-0 advantage after 3 complete innings.
- Springfield would not waste any time before answering. In the top half of the 4th inning, back-to-back singles would set the table for Breannah McCann to double to center field, driving home 2 runs and giving Springfield a 2-1 lead.
- Sophomore Claire Overton would lead off the home half of the 4th inning with a single to center field, but would subsequently be stranded at 3rd base and the score would remain 2-1 in favor of Springfield.
