HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After two scoreless innings, Semanchik drove an RBI single up the middle to score Zannotti from second to give Emerson the 1-0 lead. The Lions had to bases full with two outs, but Mecklenberg  got the last punch out as the hosts edge stood at 1-0.
  • Day laced an RBI double into the gap in right center to bring in Mahlia Medina for Lesley's first run of the game to level the score at 1-all. Knowles settled and retired the last two Lynx batters on strikes to hold the game in a tie.
  • A two-run, three hit bottom of the fourth for the Lions pushed their lead up to 3-1. Zannotti batted Beaulieu in on a single that landed in left center and in the next at bat, Killough grounded to second to score Pratt.
  • With the bases full, Lesley got a run back to begin the fifth on Jensen's sacrifice fly into deep center to cut Emerson's lead down to 3-2. Two outs and the bases still loaded, the Lynx failed to bring in another as Knowles fanned Tara Eldredge to wrap the inning.
  • Emerson used the home portion of the fifth to do damage and tack on four runs and broke away to the 7-2 lead.
  • The fourth and fifth runs came in on a bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly into center. Killough hammered a two-run two-bagger into left center to give Emerson the five-run cushion.
  • Medina took advantage of an error in left field to bring in Megan Murphy to move the score to 7-3, but Knowles got her 10th strikeout to round out the 7-3 victory.
