HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE
- The first set was back and forth as neither team was able to string together more than 3 points until late.
- Emerson found themselves down 15-14 when a service error by Wentworth's Alex McLane tied the match up at 15-15.
- On the next play, an Emerson attack error would give Wentworth the lead and momentum.
- Wentworth rattled of 6 straight points to give the Leopards a 21-16 advantage.
- The teams traded points in the ensuing possessions, but Wentworth's previous 6-point rally proved to be the difference in the set as the Leopards secured a 25-19 set victory.
SET TWO
- The Lions captured a quick 3-1 advantage to open the second set behind 2 kills by Sophomore Luke Roehm.
- The rest of the set would be defined by 2 separate 6-point stretches by Wentworth.
- Kills from Roehm and Sophomore Neiko Pittman would stop the Leopards momentum, but Wentworth built a 15-5 cushion.
- The teams would again trade points for the remainder of the set, but the deficit proved to be too much to overcome for the Lions, as they would lose the set 25-15.
SET THREE
- The Lions did not go quietly as the beginning of the 3rd set was another back-and-forth battle.
- A kill by Pittman and a block by Freshman Ramsis De Los Santos tied the set at 3-3.
- Wentworth would again build a lead their lead to 9-6 before kills from Pittman, Roehm, and Freshman Bayden Slavik gave Emerson a 10-9 advantage.
- Wentworth would snag the lead again with a 3-point streak; giving them a 15-12 advantage.
- The Lions were unable to recover as Wentworth pushed past the Lions on their way to a 25-18 victory in the 3rd set; securing a 3-0 match victory.
