HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lion's got the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st inning started by a Sam Zannotti walk. Zannotti would advance to 3rd on a wild pitch and a passed ball. Senior Calli Pratt would drive in Zannotti, followed by a bases-loaded walk for Makenzie Killough, giving the Lions an early 2-0 lead.
- Freshman Ally Lacey would also draw a bases-loaded walk, plating Senior Lexi Semanchik, extending the Lions lead to 3-0 after 1 inning.
- Both pitchers we able to keep the opposing offenses quiet for the next 2 innings until Marietta exploded for 5 runs in the top of the 4th inning.
- Rachel Kazmirski started the inning with a leadoff double. Jillian Middleton then drove her in with a double of her own.
- Emma Burke and Anna Swierczewski both added RBI doubles, giving Marietta a 5-3 lead.
- Marietta's Jillian Middleton would hold the Lions to 1 hit over the next 3 innings; securing a 5-3 victory for the Pioneers.
