HOW IT HAPPENED

SET ONE

  • After Emerson evened the score at 2-all, Lasell set off on a five-point run to maintain the four-point advantage at 7-3. Emerson, however, answered with a 4-1 streak that was capped by a Lasers attack error to pull within one at 8-7.
  • A Lions setting mishap and back-to-back swings from Brenden Joyce and Baranowski allowed the visitors to set off with the set's six of eight points to pull ahead five at 14-9.
  • Emerson continued to trail by a margin of four before three straight Baranowski kills gave Lasell their biggest lead of seven at 20-13.
  • Emerson battled their way back into the frame after they trailed by seven. Starting off with a kill from Dobbins, the Lions registered a 7-2 run to put the score at 23-21.
  • Lasell notched match point on a service error by Emerson, yet once again, the Lions did not go away quietly. A pair of errors by Lasell allowed Emerson to get back within a point at 24-23, but the Lasers halted a comeback by the Lions and took set one on an attack error by the hosts.

SET TWO

  • Lasell charged out to a 10-3 lead before Emerson cut the lead in half with the next two points on a kill and Lasers attack error. The Lions trailed by five, but saw its deficit grow after the Lasers registered the next four points with score at 14-5.
  • The closest Emerson was able to inch within Lasell was five after two consecutive attack errors by the visitors moved the score to 19-14.
  • After the Lions trailed five, the Lasers used several errors and a kill to take the second frame, 25-17, and set the hosts back two frames.

SET THREE

  • Five ties occurred through the beginning of the third frame before Lasell took off with a streak of 10-3 to grab its biggest lead of the set at seven. (20-13)
  • Down seven, Emerson responded in timely fashion and used four Lasell errors, an ace and a kill to jump within two at 22-20. 20 is all Emerson would record as Lasell went on to notch the match's final three points as the Lions shouldered the three-set setback.

UP NEXT
