HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Just over five minutes into the first half, Emerson shouldered a nine-point deficit after Morales broke free for a triple that put the score at 15-4. The Lions soon saw that nine-point margin increase to 14 after Blauner knocked down a bucket as the score now sat at 20-6 with 12:15 to go.
  • Emerson used the power of the triple to get back in the game as back-to-back three's from Davis started what would become a 12-5 Lions' run at the 9:25 mark.
  • The Lions kept its offensive surge rolling with an 11-2 run that allowed the visitors to level the score at 29-all after McLean's layup with 4:52 on the clock. The Pride gained its last lead of the frame on a jumper from Costa at 35-31.
  • Emerson closed the first 20 minutes with a 13-5 push through the final three-plus minutes and went into the locker room up 44-40.
  • Springfield once again claimed the lead back at 45-44 on a three from Bray to start off the second only to have Emerson respond with a lengthy 14-4 streak. Within the 14-point run, the last eight points came from Waterhouse and gave the Lions the 58-49 advantage as the clock read 13:45.
  • With 9:11 in regulation, Springfield was able to pull within five at 66-61, but Emerson used a 7-0 spark in 90 seconds to balloon its lead back to 12 points. The Lions held the Pride to within six through the remainder of regulation and held on to the 89-82 win.
