The Lead: Graduate Jarred Houston paced all scorers with a game-high 26 points followed by an additional 18 from graduate Nate Martin, but the Emerson men's basketball team were outlasted in overtime, 80-78, by Tufts on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• After a quick jumper from Beckwith, Emerson faced a five-point deficit within the first several minutes of the half when Tufts went on a 7-0 streak to take the early 7-2 lead. 
• Failed trips to the free throw stripe and missed shots by the Jumbos allowed Emerson to answer with a 7-2 spurt and level the score at 9-all.
• Over the next nine minutes, Emerson pieced together a 16-6 run that capped off by a triple from Martin to push their lead into double-figures at 25-10. The Lions kept the Jumbos at bay and allowed them only 10 points through the remainder of the opening half. 
• With 50 ticks left on the clock, sophomore Trevor Arico's trifecta extended the host's advantage to their largest of the half at 16 as the score sat at 41-25 at the break. 
• The beginnings of the second half saw Tufts get themselves in striking distance due to Emerson's offense going cold over four minute span. The Jumbos pieced together a 13-1 run to close within six at 48-42. 
• A pair of free throw and lay up with 4:43 on the clock evened the game at 57-all, but a corner three from Arico lifted the Lions back up three at 70-67. Houston's dunk with 1:25 left gave Emerson another three-point lead at 63-63, but the Jumbos used a three from Thoerner to lock the game at 66-all. 
• Houston missed the potential game-winning pair of free throws followed by a missed jumper from Thoerner to move the game in overtime. 
• Houston, Martin, Allen and Beckwith combined for eight points with two and a half minutes gone in overtime to push Emerson to the 74-71 edge. 
• Tufts leveled the game two more times, the first at 75-all and the last time at 78-all when Henry watched his layup fall through with two ticks on the clock. Aronson converted the layup and drew the and-one, but missed the free throw as the Jumbos snagged the 80-78 lead. 
• Emerson was unable to get another shot up and fell to Tufts, 80-78.
