HOW IT HAPPENED
11": Emerson had its first two shot attempts turned away by O'Brien within the first 10 minutes before the Lions struck for the game's first goal. Bushara's initial shot from within the left post was saved by O'Brien and forced him out of the net. The ball bounced back to Bushara, who sent it over to Ferguson and booted the ball into a wide open net.
-At the break, Emerson outshot Westfield State, 6-4.
71": Westfield State caught the Emerson defense off guard when Njamnshi was able to fend off two defenders racing towards the box. Fitzsimmons came out of the goal, which allowed Njamnshi to send the game-tying marker over his head and into the net.
-After the game was locked at 1-all, Emerson got three shots off, but were all turned away by O'Brien.
-In the 88th minute, Westfield nearly tallied the go-ahead marker, but was called offsides as the score held for the 1-1 tie.
