The Lead: Sophomore Parker Cummings racked up 21 kills while classmate Amelia Combs added 18 kills for the Lion. This was not enough as the Emerson Women's Volleyball team fell to Springfield in five sets by a score of 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE
- The Lions held a lead for the majority of the first set as Sophomores Parker Cummings and Amelia Combs racked up a combined 11 kills to help the Lions to a 25-19 victory over the Pride.
SET TWO
- The second set was a back-and-forth battle between both sides. Springfield's largest lead was four points, but the Lions were quick to answer and tie the set at 14-14.
- With set number two knotted at 14, the momentum swung in favor of Springfield. Three straight points led to an Emerson timeout, followed by four more points by the Pride. With this 7-0 rune, Springfield was up by a score of 21-14.
- The lead proved to be too much for the Lions to overcome as they dropped set two by a score of 25-18.
SET THREE
- Set three was another back-and-forth battle that saw more momentum swings than the previous two sets.
- With the Lions down 11-10, Freshman Taylor Esmie notched two of her 7 kills to put the Lions back in the lead. Springfield would soon after regain the lead before another kill by Esmie would tie the set once again.
- Springfield rattled off another three consecutive points before scoring five of the next seven points. Emerson was forced to call a timeout as they were down by a score of 22-16.
- Following the timeout, Emerson stormed back with six straight points, led by four kills from Cummings.
- The set was now tied at 22-22 and Springfield was able to score the three points needed to secure the victory. The Pride were now up two sets to one.
SET FOUR
- The Lions stormed out of the gate in the fourth set. Kills by Cummings, Esmie, and Sophomore Brooke Maynez had the Lions on top by a score of 13-3 in set number four.
- This lead continued to build with more kills by Cummings, Combs, and Senior Caroline Bond.
- The Lions cruised to an east set victory by a score of 24-10. This knotted the match up at 2-2
SET FIVE
- The deciding set saw Springfield pounce on the Lions and never look back. The Lions never held a lead in the set and ultimately lost the set 15-3; suffering a 3-2 match loss.
