The Lead: With a game high 21 points along side nine rebounds and four blocks, senior Jarred Houston helped put the Emerson men's basketball team back in the win column as the Lions held on to a tight 75-72 triumph over Tufts on Sunday afternoon at Cousens Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 2021 home opener for Tufts saw both the Lions and Jumbo have four players in double figures for points as it was a tightly contested game from the tip.
- The 1st half saw the Lions Houston pour in 12 of his game high 21 points while grabbing four rebounds. Beckwith added 10 points and three rebounds for the Lions in the 1st half.
- Tufts' Carson Cohen scored 12 of his 20 points in the 1st half, but the Lions would hold on to a four-point lead heading into the locker-room with a 40-36 point lead.
- The Jumbos surged to a 49-48 lead at the 14:29 mark of the 2nd half, but the Lions scored the next 7 points to regain a 55-49 lead.
- Emerson would continue to build their lead into to a 10 point margin at the 6:14 mark with the Lions up 68-58.
- Tufts would not go quietly as they went on a 12-5 run late in regulation.
- Tufts narrowed the score to 73-70 entering the final minute. With a foul by Emerson, Dylan Thoerner sank both free throws to cut the Emerson lead to 73-72 with 21 seconds remaining in regulation.
- Emerson added free throws from Beckwith and Waterhouse, but Tufts would have the final shot attempt.
- Tyler Aronsen's three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark as the Lions held on to a narrow victory.
