HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emerson converted 17-of-34 of its shots from the parquet in the first frame and held Brandeis to shoot a mere 35.5% as the Lions held a 19-point 49-30 lead at the half.
  • Back-to-back buckets from Eastman and Sawyer quickly put Brandeis up 5-0 on Emerson just two minutes into the game. The Judges upped its lead to four only to see the Lions use the charity stripe to grab the lead at 12-11.
  • After Nolan Hagerty put Brandeis back within one, Emerson went to work. A 13-2 spark, started with back-to-back treys from Houston, pushed the hosts up 28-19 with 8:34 left to play in the opening half.
  • Through the last eight minutes of the half, Emerson pressured on both sides of the ball and was able to maintain a double-digit 49-30 lead over Brandeis.
  • Emerson kept dropping basket after basket in the second half and carried its momentum from the first into the second, never letting Brandeis ever get too comfortable.
  • When Waterhouse rattled in another layup, Emerson gained its largest cushion of the game at 58-38 at the 16:36 mark.
  • Emerson never slowed down despite its large lead over Brandeis and kept putting the pressure on the other end. The closest Brandeis was able to creep within Emerson was at 10 when Brown had a three drop through to put the score at 67-57 at 8:50.
  • Brandeis got within the 10-point margin several times within the last eight minutes of regulation, but were not able to get any closer to Emerson as a Waterhouse jumper iced the 84-72 victory.
