Weekly Preview: Men's Basketball Heads Into Clashes With Babson & MIT

BOSTON, Mass. - With its three game home stand wrapped, the Emerson men's basketball team ventures out for its lone road matchup of the week out at No. 22 Babson on Wednesday night before coming right back to Boston for a midday Saturday meeting with MIT. 


A LOOK BACK 

  • Emerson took a 1-1 week in its pair of matchups against WPI and Wheaton (Mass.) that moved its overall record to 11-6 and sit 4-2 in NEWMAC action
  • The Lions started the week pitted in a NEWMAC Championship matchup with WPI, but the Engineers came out victorious with a 87-64 setback
  • It was a battle of the Lions on Saturday against Wheaton (Mass.) as the host Lions cruised past the visiting Lyons, 97-83, in a game that saw four members notch double figures including Jack O'Connor (24), James Beckwith (19), Zach Waterhouse (17) and Jarred Houston (15)

BECKWITH DUBBED LION OF THE WEEK 

  • For the second time this season, Beckwith has been named as the Lion of the Week for competition spanning from January 20 to January 27. 
  • In the Lions' 1-1 week, Beckwith registered 52.9% of his shots from the floor including going 4-for-7 beyond the arc for a combined 26 points. 
  • The freshman contributed 19 points in Emerson's 97-83 win over Wheaton (Mass.) this past Saturday and connected on 3-for-4 from the three-point perimeter with an additional two rebounds, four assists and one steal in his stat line.
  • With one week of January play left, Beckwith currently sits third amongst three-point shooters with a percentage of 47.1%.
