BOSTON, Mass.
- It was quite a week for the Emerson men's basketball team as the Lions went 2-0 with wins over MIT and Springfield, but now the home team heads into a NEWMAC Championship rematch with WPI on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. before facing Wheaton on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. 


A LOOK BACK 

  • Emerson pieced together a 2-0 week in NEWMAC play this past week to push its overall record to 10-5 and hold a 3-1 record in conference play 
  • The Lions began the week local out at MIT on Wednesday night where they captured a 10-point 54-44 victory over the Engineers behind a 16 point night from senior Jack O'Connor (Newport, R.I.) followed by a 13 point, 12 rebound doubled-double by sophomore Jarred Houston (Norwood, Mass.)
  • On Saturday, the home team hosted a NEWMAC Semifinal rematch with No. 19 Springfield as the Lions stunned the Pride, 74-70, with the help of 21 points and 10 boards from O'Connor, 18 points from Houston and additional 17 from freshman James Beckwith (Palo Alto, Calif.)

HOUSTON TABBED LION OF THE WEEK 

  • Houston was a heavy contributer in helping the men's basketball to a two conference victories over the past week and was named Lion of the Week for competition ranging from January 13-20. 
  • Away at MIT in the midweek, Houston tallied a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while blocking four shots, helping Emerson to the 54-44 win. In a NEWMAC Semifinal home rematch against No. 19 Springfield, Houston totaled 18 points and was one rebound away from a double-double with nine and added three assists and two blocks.
