The Lead: The Emerson Men's Basketball team fell to the Division I Hartford Hawks on Thursday afternoon in an 11:00am matinee hosted by Hartford. The lions were paced by a pair of sophomores Zach Waterhouse (Hampton, N.H.) and Nate Martin (Washington, D.C.) who had 16 and 14 points respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded points early in the game, with the Lions and Hawks being locked at eight early in the first half. Just over five minutes into the game, a Ben Holding jumper gave the Lions their first lead at 10-8.
- From the lead, Hartford went on a 9-2 run to gain a five point lead back at 17-12. Hartford was able to hold their five point lead, but the Lions matched every Hawk bucket until two straight baskets from Waterhouse brought the lead down to one at 21-20. Emerson eventually tied the score at 27 on a pair of James Beckwith free throw with 2:48 remaining in the first half.
- After the Beckwith free throw, Hartford rallied off six straight points, opening up a 33-27 lead with 44 seconds remaining in the half. Waterhouse connected on a three with 18 ticker remaining to cut the lead to three, with the Lions trailing 33-30 at the half.
- Hartford opened up the second half on a 9-5 run, opening up a seven point lead on the Lions. Four straight baskets from here gave the Hawks their biggest lead of the day at 16 that the Lions quickly cut back to 12. Hartford was able to build their lead up to 20, and held the Lions off for the remaining time in the game. Emerson closed out the game with a Ben Allen jump shot, falling by 15 against the Division I opponent.
