HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson jumped out to an early lead, taking 11 points of the first 14. The Lions' runway highlighted by the service of Caroline Bond (Macungie, Penn.). Rivier fought back, bringing the set much closer. The Raiders took the lead at 23-22, before the Lions were able to close out the set with one extra point, 26-24.
- The second set started with both teams splitting the fist eight points. The Lions scored the next five behind three kills. The Lions held their lead at five, but the Raiders eventually cut it to one at 19-18. The Lions took six of the next nine points to take the set 25-22.
- The third set saw the Lions take an early five point lead at 12-7 on a Jillian kay (Capistrano Beach, Calif.) kill. After the Raiders cut the lead to two, Emerson rattled off a 6-2 run to build a seven point lead at 18-11, with the final point coming on a Logan Steenbergen (Glenview, Ill.) block. Rivier was able to cut the lead to two at 21-19, but a well timed timeout by the Lions saw therm close out the set at 25-22 on Grace Tepper's 20th kill of the night. Emerson took the match 3-0.
