HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions and Wildcats started trading points in the beginning of set number one before the Wildcats rattled off four in a row to open up a 7-3 lead.
- Johnson & Wales doubled their lead at 16-10 as the Lions were unable to overcome the powerful attacks the Wildcats.
- The Wildcats closed the first set out on a 9-5 run capped off by a solo block by Josh Pitzer to end the set with a final score of 25-15.
- In the second set, Emerson jumped out to an 2-0 lead before losing the next four points.
- The Wildcats extended their lead to 10-6 before Emerson alley their first timeout of the game.
- The timeout was well placed, as Emerson went on a 4-2 tun to get back into the set at 12-10, with a strong kill by Nick Rusk.
- Johnson and Wales responded with a 6-2 run of their own, opening up an 18-12 lead after 30 points in the second set.
- Emerson called another well placed timeout, taking four of the next five points, cutting the lead to 19-16.
- Johnson and Wales closed out the game on a second 6-2 run of the set to take a 2-0 lead heading into the third set.
