The Lead: The Emerson Lions and Lesley Lynx played two games on Tuesday, resulting in a victory for each club with the Lynx taking the first game and the Lions taking the second game.
GAME ONE
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jordan Day earned the victory for the Lynx, throwing a complete game and striking out eight batters and allowing four runs.
- Casey Tsamis (Colchester, Conn.) picked up the loss for the Lions, allowing five runs over her seven innings pitched.
- Lesley batted .400 (6-15) with runners on while the Lions only batted .286 (4-14).
- Riley Pickett led the Lynx with one home run, two RBIs, and one run scored herself.
- The Lions were led by the Lindsey Lowe (Porter Ranch, Calif.) and Kallista Leonardos (El Granada, Calif.), who each had two hits and one RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lynx wasted no time at the plate, after a walk and a double to start the game, Riley Pickett hit a two run homer to extend the Lynx lead to 3-0.
- They tacked on one more run in the first inning on a throwing error by the Lions.
- The Lions were unable to strike in their first two batting opportunities.
- The Lynx tacked on one more run in the top of the third, extending their lead to 5-0.
- The Lynx threatened again in the top of the fourth with two outs, but Riley Pickett was thrown out at home by Micaela Dix (White House Station, N.J.) on a double by Jordan Day.
- The Lions got their first hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a single to left field by Lindsey Lowe.
- Emerson struck back in the fifth, scoring their first run on an error by the Lynx.
- The Lions scored their second run on a single by Lindsey Lowe that plated Caroline Fortuna (Higganum, Conn.).
- They tacked on one more on a passed ball, cutting the score to 5-3 at the end of the fifth inning.
- With the score still 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Kallista Leonardos doubled to right field, plating Caroline Fortuna and sending Lindsey Lowe to third.
- The Lions were unable to score again, ending the game with a final score of 5-4.
GAME TWO
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jill Gearin's (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) solo homerun in the third inning was her first of the season.
- Neely Eddleston (West Wareham, Mass.) earned her seventh win of the season by pitching a complete game for the Lions.
- Eddleston struck out five batters and allowed three earned runs on the afternoon.
- Tallin Goldberg took her second loss on the year for the Lynx, allowing six earned runs on seven hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson jumped out to an early lead in the second inning, scoring four runs in the inning, started off by a Molly Goldstein single that plated Maddie Tomich (Lithia, Fla.).
- The Lions scored three more runs on walks with the bases loaded.
- Lesley grabbed a run back on a single by Jordan Raab which plated Jordan Day who doubled to get into scoring position.
- Jill Gearin got the run back on a solo home run for the Lions in the bottom of the third.
- Gearin's home run sparked the Lions, who continued to score in the inning.
- Jacqueline Defusco (East Greenwich, R.I.) doubled down the left field line, plating the Caroline Fortuna and Molly Goldstein.
- Kallista Leonardos plated Lindsey Lowe on a groundout to shortstop.
- Alena Jones's (Woodinville, Mass.) infield single sent Jacqueline DeFusco home, extending the Lions lead to 10-1 after three innings.
- The Lynx clawed back three runs on one play when Jordan Day doubled to left center field which brought Courtney Goggin, Stephanie Schofield, and Ashleigh Acker home, cutting the Lions lead to 10-4.
- The Lions tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, extending their lead to 12-4.
- The Lynx were unable to score in the top of the fifth inning, activating the eight-run rule and ending the game with a final score of 12-4.

- Emerson gets back on the field Wednesday, March 28th, as they welcome the Saints of Emmanuel College to Rotch Field for a doubleheader starting at 5:00pm.
