Box Score 2 BOSTON, Mass. – Emerson Men's Volleyball split their tri-match today, first defeating The Albertus Magnus Falcons, but then losing out to The Emmanuel College Saints. Emmanuel had a successful day winning both of their matchups, while the Falcons dropped both of theirs. The Lions record now stands at 8-11 and 4-5 in the GNAC. Emmanuel rises to 12-9 overall and are also 4-5 in conference play. The Falcons fall to 5-9 and 0-7 in the GNAC.
The first match of the day was between Emerson and Albertus Magnus. The Lion's broke away early and remained ahead in all three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-16, and 25-18. Multiple Falcon players did have a successful match however; both Justin Tharau and Ben Spilka had 8 kills, which rivaled Mark Piorkowski who lead the match with 9. Spilka lead in digs with 16, while Jared Gross lead the Lions with 15. The Lion's won the match 3-0.
For the second match of the day, Emmanuel faced Albertus Magnus. The Falcons put up a tough fight extending the match to 4 sets after winning the third, but the Saints bested the Falcons with set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 22-25, and 25-9. Emmanuel's Barrett Wingard and Albertus Magnus's Justin Tharau lead the match with 13 kills. Tharau also had 15 digs, while the Saint's Erik English had 13 digs.
Emmanuel and Emerson faced off for the final match of the day, with the Saints winning in 3 sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-18). Wing lead the Saints and the match with 12 kills, while Piorkowski tallied 10 kills and 11 digs. Kevin Gallegos lead in digs with 13.
The Lion's next match will be on March 22nd against Mount Ida at the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker gym, opening serve at 6:00pm
