Box Score Emerson Men's volleyball suffered a 3-1 loss in their second matchup with Rivier College. This loss brings Emerson's record to 10-8 overall and 3-5 in the GNAC, while Rivier is now at 12-9 overall and 7-1 in the GNAC.
It was an extremely physical and exciting match, with neither team giving an inch. The Lion's and the Raiders remained close throughout all four sets. Emerson won the first set 25-22. Emerson only had 4 errors in comparison to Rivier's 7 during that set; Rivier did have more kills 15-12.
Rivier tied up the match in the second set, with a score 27-25. Rivier got competitive this set, putting up 19 kills and having 6 errors; Emerson only had 13 kills and had another 4 errors. Emerson's Jackson Wiley had 9 of these kills, and an impressive 22 overall.
The gap widened slightly in the third set with a score of 25-21. Rivier had less kills than the previous set, 17, and the same 6 errors, but Emerson committed 6 errors in this set, giving Rivier an advantage.
Rivier finished off the game with an impressive fourth set. Emerson only managed 9 kills in this set and Rivier stayed consistent with 17. The final score of the set was 25-18, Rivier.
Rivier's Chris Markuson put up an extremely impressive 19 kills overall in this game, coming up short only to Emerson's Wiley.
Emerson Men's Volleyball's next game will be on March 26th at home, against Newbury College at 7:00pm.
