Lions Fall to #12 Rivier

Emerson Men's Volleyball suffered a 3-0 loss on February 28 to Rivier University. Rivier remains undefeated in the GNAC, going 3-0 with a record of 6-6 overall. Emerson's record now stands at 1-3 in the GNAC and 7-6 overall. Rivier was ranked 12th in the country as of last weeks poll.

The first set remained close. The Lions and the Raiders almost matched each other on boths kills and errors, and the biggest lead in the first set was by only 4 points. The final score of that set was 25-21.

The second set widened the gap between the two teams as Rivier started the set out with a 5 point lead before Emerson could get on the board. Rivier got 10 kills to Emerson's 7 and only 2 errors to Emerson's 8. Rivier won the set with a final score of 25 - 14.

Emerson remained extremely competitive in the third set closing the gap down to 25-23. The highest lead was by 3 points and the teams went back and forth putting points up on the board.

Rivier player, Sam Kazlas lead the match in kills with 9 overall. Emerson junior, Jackson Wiley, and Rivier's Chris Markuson, tied for second in kills with 8 overall.

Jared Gross, Emerson junior, led the match in overall digs with 10.

Next up on the schedule, Emerson Men's Volleyball will face Emmanuel on the road Tuesday, March 3rd at 8:00pm.
