Women's Volleyball Splits Tri Match

BOSTON, Mass - It was a split day as Emerson Women's Volleyball defeated Framingham State (3-0), but then lost to Bates College (3-1). The Lions record now stands at 12-11 overall with their NEWMAC record staying at 2-6. The Bates Bobcats are now 8-13 overall, while the Framingham Rams are 22-7 overall.


In the first match of the day the Lions swept Framingham with the sets ending 25-18, 25-21, and 25-23. Leading for Emerson was Kelley Guerra and Fara Cohen with 9 and 8 kills respectively. Cohen had 3 block assists while Guerra had 1. Jules Augustine was right behind with 7 kills, 2 block assists, and 1 solo block. Sam Harton lead in digs with 19, followed by Elaine Nichols with 19 assists. Stat leaders for the Rams include Alycia Rackliffe with 14 kills, Danielle Girard with 18 digs, and Sarah Leonard with 17 assists.


In the second match of the day Framingham rallied and defeated Bates College 3-1, with the sets ending 25-21, 17-25, 25-14, and 25-14. Leading for the Rams were Alycia Rackliffe with 17 kills, 3 block assists, and 2 solo blocks. Sarah Leonard lead in digs with 15 and assists with 40. Stat leaders for the Bates Bobcats include Claire Naughton with 13 kills, followed closely by Nicole Peraica with 12 kills. Laryssa Schepel lead in digs with 23, while Jacqueline Forney had 22 assists.


In the third and final match of the day it was the Bobcats turn to rally as they defeated Emerson 3-1, with the Lions taking the third set. The sets ended 25-20, 25-12, 23-25, and 25-16. In this final match Bates leaders included Chandler McGrath with 14 kills, 13 digs, 1 block assist, and 1 solo block. Leading in Digs was Laryssa Schepel with 17. Jacqueline Forney lead in assists with 22. For the Lions was Fara Cohen with 11 kills and Brittany Schoellkopf with 10 kills. Moira Brennan lead in assists with 30, and Sam Harton lead in digs again with 17.


The Lions return to action on the road against MIT on October 27th at 6:00pm


Bates College hosts the University of New England, while Framingham State University travels to Rivier, both matches on 10/27 at 7:00pm.
