Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Carter Bowers put up six saves on the day as the Emerson Men's Soccer Team fell in a tough 6-0 loss to the Springfield College Pride. The Lions are now 1-4-3 on the year and 0-2 in conference play while Springfield moves to 4-1-4 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC.
The Pride came out blazing as only three minutes in Ryan Malone blanked one past the EC defense to make it a quick 1-0 lead. The Lions recouped though to hold SC off until the 39th minute as Connor Archambault redirected a shot at the net to make it 2-0 headed into the break.
The Pride came out in the second half to unleash on the Lions though as they put up nine shots with four of them finding their target, even as Bowers made three more saves in the half. The Lions offense pushed back though with eight shots of their own, but Springfield put up five saves in the half to keep Emerson off the board.
The Lions return to action this Wednesday as they set to travel to Emmanuel for a 7 p.m. game against the Saints in Boston, Mass.
