Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Jules Augustine and Amanda Linzmeyer paired up for 15 kills on the night, but were unable to push the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team past Brandeis in a tough 25-21, 25-21 and 25-10 loss. The Lions are now 4-7 overall while Brandeis improves to 6-6 on the year.
Set one saw the Lions put down eight kills, but matched them in attack errors as well while the Judges scrapped a .135 attack percentage behind Liz Hood's five kills. Linzmeyer led the way for EC with three kills in the set, but the Judges remained in control taking a 25-21 win.
The second set saw Emerson spread the offense more with five Lions collecting kills as Katerina Salgado and Jules Augustine led the way with three apiece. Brandeis was lethal on the other side of the net though as they swung .355 as a team with Summer Koop's four kills and .571 average sending the Judges to another 25-21 win.
Three was all it would take on the night though as the Judges went on a tear in the set with a vicious .452 team attack average. Koop fired up for five more kills while Liz Hood and Jessica Kaufman both posted four each. The Emerson defense gave it their all though with Sam Harton pulling in six digs and Jessica Hamilton putting up five, but ultimately the Lions fell 25-10.
Next up the Lions continue NEWMAC action this Saturday as they set to host Mount Holyoke and Eastern Nazarene in a tri-match. First match of the day is set for noon at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym in Boston, Mass.
