Box Score 2 NASHUA, N.H. – The Emerson Women's Volleyball Team fired up to force a split on the day as they fell 3-0 to Rivier to open their tri-match Saturday before they topped Regis 3-1 to close out the day. With the split, Emerson is now 6-4 on the year.
First up the Lions faced host Rivier where they hung tough in the first set with a .200 team attack percentage. Amanda Linzmeyer and Brittany Schoellkopf led EC with three kills apiece, but Lauren Silverman's five kills led the Raider attack as RC took a 25-21 win.
Set two saw the Lions fall out of sync a bit as they only put up a .062 average while five service aces helped Rivier take a 25-18 win. The third set saw Emerson fire back again to force two tie scores and two lead changes, but Rivier's .357 attack percentage was too much to supersede as they took a 25-20 win.
On the second match of the day, Emerson took on the Regis Pride where they came out for a tough first set that the Pride took advantage of for a 25-12 win. EC roared back in the second set though with two blocks and Jules Augustine flooring three kills to even it with a 25-18 win.
The third set was more of a battle as six tie scores and three lead changes went off, but EC was in control with a .226 attack percentage with Linzmeyer posting a nasty .556 attack percentage for five kills to take the 25-20 win. Four was all the Lions needed though as they took the first point and never looked back as Jules Augustine blazed a .667 attack percentage for four kills to take the 25-23 win.
The Lions will open up NEWMAC action this Tuesday as they set to host Wellesley at 7 p.m. in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym.
