BOSTON, Mass. – Double-digit kills from Rivier's Chris Markson and Terence Matatall led the way Thursday afternoon with EC's Jackson Wiley leading the floor with 11 kills as the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team fell 25-15, 25-21 and 25-16 to the Raiders. The Lions are now 10-13 overall and 5-9 in conference play as Rivier improves to 26-5 on the year and 14-0 in the GNAC.

Set one saw the Raiders come out to dominate with a .552 average as a team with Chris Markuson leading the floor with six kills in the set. Ben Hillman and Jackson Wiley both pushed for the Lions as they put up three kills each in the set, but ultimately couldn't keep up with the Raiders in a 25-15 loss.

Set two saw the Lions slow down the attack and rally against the Raiders, this time with Jackson Wiley putting up five kills to lead the floor. Rivier's Terence Matatall followed up with four kills for a .667 attack percentage while his fellow Raiders put up three team blocks. The Lions fired back in the end with two blocks of their own to pull it within three, but Rivier finished it off with a 25-21 final.

The Lions came out scrappy in the third set, taking an early lead from the Raiders who pushed six tie scores and two lead changes in the set. Rivier spread the offense in the set as they saw six different Raiders put up kills with three from Chris Markuson, Aaron Almario and Terence Matatall with Matt Tutino leading the floor with four kills. Tom Carroll helped lead the EC offense at setter for part of the set, but in the end the Radiers prevailed with the sweep 25-16.

The Lions will wrap up the 2014 regular season this weekend as they travel to Lasell for a tri-match against the Lasers and the Albertus Magnus Falcons starting at 11 a.m. in Newton, Mass.
