Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Ryan Clinesmith's 25 points and the Lions lethal rebounding led the Emerson Men's Basketball Team to a 74-63 win over the Mount Ida Mustangs Monday night. With the win the Lions improve to 4-5 overall while Mount Ida falls to 1-7 on the year.
The first half saw Ryan Clinesmith explode out of the gates for the Lions with 16 points in the first 20 minutes of action. Eli Kell-Abrams stepped up to run the offense for EC with five assists in the half as the Lions hit an unreal 63% of their shots in the half. The bench proved clutch as well, dropping 18 points on the Mustangs to head into the break with Emerson up 42-30.
The second half saw the Mustangs scrap back into the game though Clinesmith remained on a tear for EC, finishing with 25 points in the game while Brian Hurley jumped into the fray with 13 points and Tyson Hallowell with 11. The Mustangs hung tough though with 19 points off of turnovers, but the Lions were potent on the boards outrebounding the Mustangs 51 to 25 to finish out the 74-63 win.
Next up the Lions return home to close out their first half of their season as they set to face Wheelock on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym in Boston, Mass.
