Box Score AMHERST, Mass. – A second half surge was too much for the Emerson Men's Basketball Team to overcome Saturday afternoon as they fell 80-59 to Amherst College. The Lions are now 3-5 on the year while Amherst improves to a perfect 5-0.
The first half saw Tyson Hallowell come off the bench to lead the Lions with nine points. The Lord Jeffs were on point on offense though, shooting 45% from the floor with Jayde Dawson putting up 11 points and Connor Green adding 10 in the half. The Lions struggled to control the ball as well with eight turnovers as the Jeffs rolled into the half up 39-28.
The second half saw Michael Thorpe step up for EC as he dropped 11 points to lead the floor. The Lions stepped up on offense shooting 38%, but the Jeffs just barely bested them with a 41% average. Foul trouble cropped up on the Lions though as they gave up 17 free throws that AC converted 12 of as they took off with a 41-31 win.
The Lions return to action this Monday as they travel to Mount Ida where they'll face the Mustangs at 6 p.m. in Newton, Mass.
