Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Brian Hurley's 20 points and Ryan Clinesmith's double-double made the difference as the Emerson Men's Basketball Team surged back in the second half to top the Wheelock Wildcats 63-52 Wednesday night. With the win the Lions improve to 5-5 on the year while Wheelock falls to 1-7 overall.
The first half saw the Lions fall out of sync to start the game as they shot only 27% in the half and going 0-5 from beyond the arc. Brian Hurley was the lynchpin in keeping EC in the game with 11 points in the half. Wheelock's Anthony Williams led the Wildcat attack with eight points. The difference was in turnovers though as WC put up seven points off turnovers and four off fast breaks to head into the half up 23-22.
The second half saw the Lions surge back to double their field goal percentage with a nasty 56% from the floor. Michael Thorpe heated up with 13 points shooting 50% from the floor. Brian Hurley remained potent as well with nine more points to go 9-for-14 on the night. The Lions were lethal in the paint on the night as they put in 40 of their 63 points on the night up close.
The game wraps the first half of the Men's Basketball season as they set to return to action in January. EC will return to action January 4th as they set to travel to Suffolk for a 1 p.m. game in Boston, Mass.
