Leder's Late Goal Not Enough In Soccer's Loss To Babson

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – Jeremy Leder's late goal wasn't enough to elevate the Emerson Men's Soccer Team Saturday afternoon as they fell in a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Babson. The Lions move to 6-8-4 on the year and 0-6-1 in conference play while Babson improves to 14-5 overall and 4-3 in NEWMAC play.

The first half saw Emerson come out blazing with nine shots in the half to Babson's four as the Lions forced BC's Stephen Donato to make three saves to keep EC off the board. The first half proved to be a stalemate though as Henri Fischer also put up two saves to send the game into the break at 0-0.

The second half saw both teams put up ten shots each with Babson stepping up again with three saves. The Beavers finally broke the tie with Justin Laurenzo finding his first goal of the night off a corner from Tyler Carlos with a one touch to the top right corner.

Laurenzo struck again in the 82nd minute, this time with a pass play from Andrew Gonzalez and Tyler Carlos setting him up for a one touch goal to make it 2-0. It looked grim for EC as the game neared the five minutes remaining mark until Jeremy Leder found a ball about five yards outside the box that he lifted towards the goal with a perfect bend that slipped past Babson to pull it to a 2-1 final.

The game wraps the Lions 2014 season. The Lions would like to thank their fans and families for all their support throughout their 2014 campaign.
