Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BOSTON, Mass. – Nadav Swarttz and Eric Doherty teamed up for 25 kills on the day as the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team closed out their regular season with a split with Rivier and Mount Ida. The Lions fell 3-0 to the Raiders, before closing out the day with a sweep of Mount Ida to move to 11-16 overall and 5-9 in the GNAC.

The first match of the day pitted the Lions against the Rivier Raiders where the Raiders went off in the first set, hitting .294 as a team with Aaron Almario leading the way with six kills in the set. EC's Alex Frapech led the Lions with four kills as EC stepped out to outhit RU with a red-hot .346 attack percentage. In the end RU barely edged the Lions with blocks as they won 26-24.

Set two was all Rivier though as the Raiders swung .409 which Emerson seemed to fall out of sync in the set. The Raiders defense was on point as well, flooring three blocks en route to ripping out a 25-11 win. Three was all that was needed for the Raiders as the Lions shook off the second set to force three tie scores and three lead changes in the set. Rivier's four blocks were the finishing touches though to take the 25-21 win.

Match two on the day saw the Lions face-off against the Mustangs of Mount Ida where they came out swinging, throwing down a .316 team average in set one with Alex Frapech leading the way with four kills. Connor Burton was nasty as well at the net as he dropped three solo blocks as EC took set one 25-18.

The success continued on in the second set as Emerson took the lead and never looked back, hitting an unreal .556 in the set with three different Lions dropping three kills each. Connon Burton again patrolled the net with two more solo blocks as EC claimed set two 25-14.

Three was all it would be for the match as Nadav Swarttz gave the fans what they came for as he crushed seven kills for a .462 average while his fellow Lions put together a .257 team average. Brendan McGonigle quarterbacked the set as well with 12 assists as Emerson finished the sweep with a 25-18 final.

With the split the Lions closed out their 2013 regular season campaign. They'll start their postseason this Tuesday as they travel to Wentworth for GNAC Quarterfinals. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
