Box Score 2 NEWTON, Mass. – A .667 average on the day from Brittany Rochford and a one-hitter from Alicia Daniele helped lead the Emerson Softball Team to a split with the Lasell Lasers on Friday. The Lions fell 7-1 and won 11-0 (5) to move to 12-10 on the year and 9-1 in conference play.
Game one saw the Lasers come out swinging as they put up three runs on the Lions in the first inning of action off five hits. EC's sole run of the game came in the top of the second as Shannon Torosian pulled a walk before Alexandra Wysota brought her home with an RBI fielder's choice.
Lasell wasn't to be stopped though as they put up three runs in the second and one in the fourth to edge away with the 7-1 win.
The Lions shook off their first GNAC loss of the season in game two though as Alicia Daniele threw a nearly flawless one-hitter in the outing. This time it was the Lions jumping onto the board first as they put up three runs in the first inning with some two out lightning after singles from Brittany Rochford and Bianca Buono came home with a huge swing from Shannon Torosian as she went yard on an 0-1 count.
EC came back out in the third with another RBI from Torosian to score Brittany Rochford, before a huge fourth inning that saw four runs off four hits and an error for the Lions. In the fourth EC saw RBIs from Alicia Daniele, Amanda Horton and Brittany Rochford to make it 8-0 Emerson.
The Lions weren't finished yet though as the dug back in for the fifth inning for three more runs, with Brianna Bigelow, Alexandra Wysota and Alicia Daniele all scoring in the inning to close out the 11-0 win in five.
The Lions return to their home field advantage Saturday as they set to host Suffolk in a doubleheader. Game one is set for 2 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
