Box Score 2 BOSTON, Mass. – Five Lions swung .500 on the day as the Emerson Softball Team dropped two run-rule wins on Anna Maria, 9-0 (5) and 11-1 (5). With the wins Emerson is now 9-7 on the year and 6-0 in conference play.
Game one saw Alicia Daniele head to the mound and throw a two-hit complete game shutout for the Lions while Nikki Delaney went three-for-three with two runs scored to lead the way.
EC started off strong in the game, scoring two in the first inning with an RBI double from Courtney Fee to start. An error gave EC another run in the second inning before the Lions broke it all open in the third with four runs off four hits. Amanda Horton and Brittany Rochford both collected RBIs in the inning to head to the fourth up 7-0.
The fourth was all Emerson needed to finish off the AMCATS as they put up two more runs on two more hits as a huge double from Lauren Jacaruso was enough to finish off the run rule and give EC the 9-0 win.
Game two sent Lauren Jacaruso to the circle for the Lions, who threw another gem for EC with a three-hit one-run game with four Ks. Rookies Alexandra Wysota and Courtney Fee stepped up in the game to go two-for-three each with three runs scored between them.
The Lions wasted no time taking it to the AMCATS again as they put five on the board in the first inning with three hits and two errors with another RBI hit from Courtney Fee sparking the spree. The Lions went after it again in the second. This time putting on three runs with RBIs from Shannon Torosian, Bianca Buono and Alexandra Wysota to make it 8-0.
Two more runs followed suit in the third as Annie Jenkins plated two with a single to make it 10-0. Another unearned run followed in the fourth inning to make it 11-0, while AMC scratched back in the fifth with their sole run of the game, but it wasn't enough as EC closed it out 11-1.
The Lions return to their home field Friday as they set to host Brandeis in a double header. First game is set to start at 3 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
