BOSTON, Mass. – Even with Nadav Swarttz hitting .529 on the night the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team was unable to hold off the visiting Emmanuel Saints Tuesday night as the Lions fell 25-20, 25-16 and 25-21. With the loss Emerson is now 9-13 on the year and 3-6 in conference play as Emmanuel improves to 12-12 overall and 7-1 in GNAC action.

Set one saw the Lions take a bit of time to find their rhythm, but then put up a fight with the Saints, forcing seven tie scores and three lead changes. The difference was made in Emmanuel's .286 average to Emerson's .167 with the Saints' Julian Hess and Zach Whitermore leading the way with four kills each. The Saints D stepped up as well for three blocks to take the 25-20 win.

Set two was all Emmanuel though as the Saints hit an unreal .536 in the set with Julian Hess and Ashanti Jackson both flooring five kills apiece for 10 of their 18 points. While the Lions hit .200 in the set with three from Connor Burton and Nadav Swarttz each, they couldn't halt the assault, falling 25-16.

The third set riled up some excitement for the home crowd as Emerson fired back to force 12 tie scores and five lead changes in a rough-and-tumble back and forth. Nadav Swarttz went off the chain in the set with six kills for a .556 attack percentage while Brendan McGonigle went .500 in sets with seven assists. In the enough though, the Lions couldn't contain Ashanti Jackson and his six kills as EC fell 25-21.

Emerson will return to home court action this weekend as they set to host Lasell and Wentworth in a tri-match. The Lions will face the Lasers first at 10 a.m. followed with the Leopards at 2 p.m. in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym.
