Box Score NEWTON, Mass. – Another dominant 14 kill night from Alex Frapech proved to be one of the highlights Tuesday night as the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team swept the Mount Ida Mustangs for the second time this season. With the 25-21, 25-17 and 25-23 win the Lions are now 6-9 on the year and 1-3 in conference action as Mount Ida drops to 5-9 overall and 0-4 in the GNAC.
The first set saw Frapech come out dominant, swinging .714 as the Lions came out ready for action, hitting .406 as a team. The defense stepped up for action as well with Frapech and Connor Burton also adding a block to stymie the Mustangs en route to a 25-21 win.
Set two saw the Lion defense continue to step up as they hammered down three more blocks on the Mustangs. Mount Ida played their own worst enemy in the set as well, with 12 unforced errors as Emerson rolled off with a 25-17 win to go up 2-0.
Three would end it on the night as the Lions swung .333 in the set en route to their fourth sweep of the season. Alex Frapech was unstoppable again in the set with seven kills for a .357 average while Connor Burton dominated the net for two more blocks to close out the 25-23 win.
The Lions will gear up to finally return home Thursday night where they'll host Daniel Webster. Match is set for 7 p.m. in Boston with Emerson's 2012 GNAC Champion Women's Volleyball Team being honored in between the second and third sets.
