Wentworth Slips Past Men's Volleyball

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – Tough Leopard defense paved the way Wednesday night as the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team fell 25-17, 25-16 and 25-17 to the Wentworth Leopards in GNAC action. With the loss the Lions are now 5-9 on the season and 0-3 in GNAC play as Wentworth improves to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Set one saw Jackson Wiley heat up with five kills to lead the floor as he swung .444 in the set to bolster the Lions. WIT wasn't about to let EC take the lead though as they split the offensive duties amongst the team for a .235 average to take off with a 25-17 win.

Set two saw the Leopards pounce, hitting .375 as a team while Tyler Moriarty put up 11 assists to lead the attack. WIT's Ross Burdett tied for the lead in the set with he and Alex Frapech putting down five kills each. The wily Leopard defense stepped in as well in the set with two blocks and 12 digs to keep Emerson at bay with a 25-16 win.

Three was all it would take, even as the Emerson defense battled in the third with four blocks and 12 digs in the set, but 13 unforced errors were to be their downfall as they let WIT slip away with a 25-17 win.

The Lions continue GNAC action as they set to travel to Mount Ida on Tuesday where they'll face the Mustangs in a 6 p.m. match start in Newton, Mass.
