BOSTON, Mass. – With Mike Carbone and Jon Goldberg both posting 13 points each on the night the Emerson Men's Basketball Team cruised to their second win of the season Wednesday afternoon as they topped the Mount Ida Mustangs 85-56. With the win the Lions are now 2-1 on the year as Mount Ida falls to 1-2.

The first half saw the Lions come out to dominate the floor as they shot 43% from the floor with Jacob Forchheimer and Mike Carbone leading both teams with eight points each. The Emerson defense was stellar as well, forcing 10 Mustang turnovers for 11 points in the half. EC was unreal in the paint as well, putting up 18 points to roll into the half up 44-17.

The Mustangs came out of the break to play a little more scrappy as they doubled their shooting percentage to push the Lions a little with Cam Walker exploding for 18 points in the half. Jon Goldberg proved clutch for EC though with seven points and three rebounds. Emerson capitalized on turnovers again in the half with eight forced for 14 points as well as 22 in the paint with the Lions rolling to the 85-56.

The Lions return to their home court on Friday to continue their 2013-2014 campaign as they set to face Tufts at 7 p.m. in Boston at Brown-Plofker Gym.
