Team Efforts Fall Short As Men's Basketball Drops 71-62 to FSU

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – Even with Michael Thorpe and Tyson Hallowell combining for 23 points on the night, the efforts of the Emerson Men's Basketball Team fell just shy on opening night as the Lions lost 71-62 against the Framingham State Rams to open the Emerson Tip-Off Tournament. EC is now 0-1 on the year as Framingham State improves to 1-0.

The first half saw the Lions come out strong with both Hallowell and Thorpe dropping five points in the half to lead EC. Adeyemi Ajao for the Rams led the floor though with seven points of his all to stay on the Lions heels. The difference for the Rams came off the bench though as they put up 10 points to head into the half down only 27-24 to Emerson at the break.

The second half saw FSU storm back though as they shot 56% from the floor as a team that Emerson couldn't keep pace with. Eli Kell-Abrams stepped up for the Lions in the half though as EC could only muster a 36% from the floor. The Rams exploded in the half though with FSU putting up 24 points from the bench as well to take the 71-62 win.

The Lions will play in the consolation game tomorrow afternoon where they'll face Emmanuel at 5:30 p.m. in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym.
