Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – A sluggish start didn't deter the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team as Alyssa Thorne and Elizabeth Reid threw down 14 kills apiece en route to a 21-25, 25-20, 25-17 and 25-16 win over the Brandeis Judges Thursday night. With the win the Lions improve to 13-9 on the year while Brandeis falls to 9-13.
Set one saw the Judges scrap through the set as they put up a .185 attack percentage to EC's .102. BU's Liz Hood led the floor with six kills in the set. Alyssa Thorne stepped up for Emerson with four of her own, but unforced errors doomed the Lions as they fell 25-21 in the first set.
Set two the Lions roared back into the match with Elizabeth Reid leading EC with four kills and a .250. Juliana Tucker threw down for seven assists to lead Emerson. Kat Rice was also nasty on the block as well with two solos in the set as EC evened it up with a 25-20 win.
Set three saw the Lions start to roll as they threw down a .324attack percentage with Elizabeth Reid going off the chain for five kills in the set to lead the floor. Juliana Tucker led EC again with 11 assists while Kat Rice put up a solo block and an assist as EC rolled to a 25 -17 win.
Set four saw Alyssa Thorne tear it up with six kills for a .600 attack percentage while the Lion defense put up two more blocks as they stifled the Judges from the first point on. With Tucker leading the way with nine more assists as Emerson closed out the win 25-16.
Next up the Lions will hit the home court again next week as they set to host NEWMAC foes Babson next Tuesday. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym.
