Saints Overpower Men's Volleyball

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emerson Men's Volleyball Team couldn't stop the full-on assault of Ashanti Jackson who floored 16 kills for a .385 attack percentage as the Lions dropped a 25-22, 25-14 and 25-13 loss to Emmanuel College Tuesday night. The loss drops Emerson to 7-11 overall and 2-7 in conference play as the Saints improve to 11-9 overall and 9-2 in the GNAC.

Set one saw the Lions come out strong as Eric Doherty and Connor Burton both put down three kills in the set while forcing 13 tie scores in a back and forth battle that fell the way of Emmanuel who swung .360 as a team while Ashanti Jackson hit an unworldly .750 with seven kills as the Saints were just barely able to take the 25-22 win.

The Lions couldn't seem to recover from the exertion from the first set as the offense came out completely off-tilt in the set while Emmanuel seemed to get stronger as they spread the offense more with six Saints combining for their 15 kills to slam down a 25-14 win.

The third set saw Emmanuel blaze through their offense as they hit .444 as a team in the set while collecting three team blocks in the set as Emerson could only muster four kills over the Emmanuel blockers to give the Saints a 25-13 final.

The Lions return to GNAC action this Thursday as they travel to Wentworth to take on the Leopards at 7 p.m. in Boston.
