Men's Volleyball Collects Second Straight Sweep Over Lesley

Box Score

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - With Nadav Swarttz swinging .647 on the night for 11 kills coupled with a team effort on defense, the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team cruised easily to their second 3-0 sweep and win of the season Monday night against the Lesley Lynx. The Lions took a 25-15, 25-8, 25-11 win on the night to move to 2-0 on the year while Lesley falls to 0-4 in its 2012 start.

Set one saw the Lions roll out ready to play as they put up a solid .290 attack percentage with Stephen Selnick quarterbacking the offense with 11 assists in the set. Frank O'Sullivan did work in the middle, swinging .667 in the set for two kills while Eric Doherty and Nadav Swarttz competed for the kill lead with four each. Conor Burton also played a hand in the win with three kills and a block solo as EC rolled to a 25-15 win.

Set two was over nearly before it even started as Emerson as they bettered both offensively and defensively in the set, pushing to a .316 team attack percentage with Nadav Swarttz exploding for four kills for an unreal .800 average in the set. This time Stephen Selnick stepped up for a solo block in addition to his eight assists as the Lynx were powerless against the Lions, swinging -.208 as Emerson cruised to a 25-8 win.

The third and final set saw the Lions only get better with a .500 team attack percentage, all the while spreading the wealth on offense as this time around Conor Burton was the one swinging .800 with four kills while rookie Nate Chivers jumped into the melee with four kills of his own with a .429 average. Frank O'Sullivan held down the defense as well, pulling in eight digs in the set as Lesley had no answers for the surging Lions in the 25-11 final.

Emerson will host their home opener this week as they host GNAC foe, Rivier to spark up conference play this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym. The game will be broadcast live on ESN.
