WESTON, Mass. – With Nadav Swarttz flooring 10 kills coupled with Conor Burton's nine and Stephen Selnick's 28 assists, the Emerson Men's Volleyball Team opened up the 2012 season with a 3-0 rout of the Regis Pride Saturday afternoon. The final set scores were 25-10, 25-10 and 25-15 as EC opens up with a 1-0 record while Regis drops to 0-2.

The first set saw Emerson work out the first game glitches rapid fire as they opened up with a .316 attack percentage that the Pride couldn't seem to contain. Nadav Swarttz led the way with his four kills in the set with nine assists from Stephen Selnick and four digs from Eric Doherty setting the pace for the Lions. The Pride didn't have much to answer in the set as well with three service errors and three receiving errors plaguing them as EC ran off with a 25-10 win.

The Lions hit repeat for the second set as they plastered the same score up for round two as the defense stepped up a bit more this time around with Frank O'Sullivan and Jake Bennett teaming up for a block, while forcing five attack errors out of the Pride and six receiving errors to roll to another 25-10 win.

Three was all it was going to be for the Lions as the Pride seemed to fight back a bit more in the third set, but it was too little too late as Conor Burton showed up for the hit parade with five kills in the set to swing a nasty .833 while the defense improved again, this time with two blocks in the set as Emerson rolled onto a 25-15 finish for the perfect sweep.

The Lions will look for W number two this Monday as they travel to Lesley for an 8 p.m. match-up against Lesley.
